Sophie is an award winning Danish-born director of photography, defined by her ability to illustrate humanistic stories with captivating, poetic imagery. Her unique skills include extensive experience in shooting on film, especially 16mm, and underwater cinematography as an advanced certified scuba diver. Her rare talents have led her to lens over 25 short films and countless music videos, which have appeared in over 100 festivals. She has also won awards from institutions such as the Los Angeles Film Awards and the Philadelphia International Filmmakers Awards.
Sophie’s first feature film, “The Angel Maker” starring Danish actors Julie Olgaard and Roland Mølle, was acquired by Netflix and screened in cinemas around the world. Sophie also lensed the feature “ Love, Nova Directed by Stuart Davis, a film about a young woman grieving her moms death.
Growing up in a small fishing town in northern Denmark, Sophie was surrounded by art from a young age. Her grandfather, a painter, instilled in her a deep appreciation for museums and exhibitions. This artistic environment profoundly influenced her path toward cinematography.
Sophie has a deep love for the ocean and enjoys scuba diving and surfing, which connects her with nature, and keeps her mentally and physically strong. Her dream is to travel the world creating purposeful films that also promote sustainability, and spending lots of time underwater.
