Simon Rowles

With his expert eye and keen sense for detail, Simon Rowles is a very experienced DOP with a career spanning over many years. His enduring passion and enthusiasm for cinematography has led to an extensive portfolio covering a multitude of genres, from hard-hitting documentaries and big budget factual entertainment programs, music videos and high-end commercials as well as 2nd unit features work. His passion lies in working with great directors to deliver their vision, using lighting to create to high end imagery. Simon was one of the first cameramen selected to be part of the staff team at Sky News, receiving a coveted RTS Documentary award and a Cameraman of the Year nomination for his coverage of the 1993 Russian Constitutional Crisis. After seven years in world news, a course at the National Film School launched a freelance career that has seen Simon work as Cameraman, DOP and Lighting Director across a broad spectrum of genres. He is just as comfortable working in a small tight knit documentary team as he is supervising a large multi camera crew or lighting a million pound commercial. During his years in the TV/Film industry, Simon’s technical expertise has continued to evolve; a true testament to his burning passion for cinematography.

He lives in London with his wife and son.
