Tim Spence

UK/London based Cinematographer/Director. Tim has established himself as being one of the most experienced DOP's in the UK.

Having started his career shooting documentaries for the BBC and Granada in Ireland and Beiruit he moved on to a more peaceful existence shooting promos for the likes of Phil Collins, Genesis, Grace Jones, Aswad, The Eurythmics, China Crisis, Paul McCartney, Eternal, Iggy Pop and UB40…… also spending time shooting Feature Films with Terry Gilliam, working with him on Time Bandits, The Meaning of Life and Brazil, where he spent 18 months as Director/DOP on the Second Unit and SFX/Model units. Commercials then followed.

Still busy as a DOP, over recent years he has also combined Directing/DOP work, which has included campaigns for Samsung, Smirnoff, Gordon's, Captain Morgans, Knorr, Nivea, B&Q, Morrisons, Honey Waffles, Lynx/Axe, Becel, Dior, Milka, Rolo, Dove Chocolate, Cif, Pantene, KFC, Burger King and Radox.

Ever aware of changing formats Tim has shot on widely varying formats….. Vistavision, Arri 65, Techniscope and more conventional 35mm 4-3-2perf normal and high speed, along with 16mm and 8mm. Moving on to the NEW digital platforms he is fully versed and accustomed to shooting on a range of cameras including Arri D21, Alexa, Red, Sony F35, DSLR systems, Canon C300/500 and the high speed cameras Phantom, Photron and Weisscam.

A wide knowledge of post production and effects has seen him sought after on many effects based commercials, he is equally at home shooting cars, food, table top, children or beauty.  

Tim has worked with many of the most respected directors in the UK and around the world. Tim has directed commercials through The Mill, Park Village, Bare, Mustard, Jim Lee Films, Crossfire, MTP, Seven Senses Madrid, Smile, The Talkies Dubai and EBS.
