Gerry Floyd

Gerry has been fascinated by photography ever since his father gave him a plastic camera on holiday in Ireland at the age of seven.  His professional career began in his late teens, developing and printing for a well known commercial photographer, Esler Crawford, in his home town of Belfast.  Shortly afterwards he moved to London to study, and gained a BA in Photography, Film and Television at the London College of Printing, his first real brush with film.  A Young Contemporary at the ICA in London, in 1982 he was offered a place at the Royal College of Art and graduated with an MA(RCA) in Film, 1985.  Early professional work was shooting music videos for bands as diverse as the The Pet Shop Boys, Take That, Technotronic and The Cocteau Twins amongst many, many more.  Quickly picked up by the advertising industry he shot major commercials around the world for many global brands such as Adidas, San Miguel, Pepsi and Guinness.  Always with an interest in narrative filmmaking, Gerry has shot award winning shorts and longer films for both the BBC and independent production companies. In a long and successful career Gerry has worked across all formats and with many influential directors and celebrities.
